Surprise Swindon Audi Donation Keeps Purton Youth Out of the Cold
It was a welcome Christmas gift for the managers and coaches of Purton Youth Football Club when Swindon Audi kindly provided winter training jackets for their coaching team at the end of last year.
The grassroots club had been eagerly pursuing sponsorship for the 2016/17 season, when Richard Fellows, Head of Business at Swindon Audi and keen football fan, offered to help.
"We recognise the importance of local grassroots football and helping youngsters get into sport,” Fellows said. “When Purton Youth approached us, they were specific about where a contribution from Audi could immediately make an impact.
Without the volunteer time offered by team coaches and club management, these organisations wouldn't exist, and sometimes the value of these contributions is overlooked."
Purton Youth FC has been running since 2005, and quickly established itself as a thriving club, having trained youngsters who have been picked up by Swindon Town FC and Southampton FC academies. The club prides itself on the philosophies of fun, development, friendliness and respect, aiming to holistically develop the boys and girls over the longer term.
Recognising the valuable contribution from the managers at Purton Youth FC, Steve Hateley (Club Chairman) realised that although a lot of effort is placed on kitting out the children at the start of the season and ensuring all training equipment is in place, coaches can tend to get overlooked.
"Without good and dedicated coaching staff, clubs like ours would cease to exist," said Hateley. "We all have full-time jobs and it's important to recognise the commitment of our coaches especially when you are out on the training ground on a cold, wet and wintery weekend morning.
The jackets provided by Richard and Swindon Audi have already helped us to draw attention to the club, which plays a major role in player recruitment.”
Swindon Audi are committed to supporting local charities and initiatives, doing their part to promote a better community within Swindon and the surrounding area.
