TT Roadster Engines
A choice of engines
The TT Roadster comes with a choice of powerful turbocharged engines and, unusually for such a performance car, a 2.0 litre diesel option too.
And, thanks to Vorsprung durch Technik, making the choice between petrol and diesel engines isn't quite as straightforward as it used to be. Engines of both fuel types offer improved power, lower emissions, sporty performance and increased efficiency. Do you prefer the high-torque pulling power of a diesel that will take you to 62mph in 7.7 seconds, yet still return over 50 mpg. Or would you prefer the raw power of a 3.2 litre V6?
TFSI: Direct injection petrol and turbocharging combined
TFSI technology unlocks superior power, more dynamic performance and better economy. In fact, compared with naturally aspirated V6 engines, TFSI delivers the same sporty performance but with four cylinders and using 10 to 15% less fuel.
FSI and turbocharging technology work so well together because the evaporation of fuel in the combustion chamber cools the intake air giving higher compression, improved engine efficiency and, in turn, lower CO2 emissions.
