Q7 V12 Safety
Outstanding levels of driver and passenger safety
The Audi Q7 V12 is one of the safest cars on the road, with a high strength bodyshell, innovative Sideguard® airbag system and extended crumple zones. It's designed to keep you and your family as secure as possible on the motorway, the school run, a mountain track or off road.
Some of the technologies helping to keep you safe:
Electronic Stability Programme (ESP)
The Q7 V12's ESP provides an intelligent, swift response to difficult driving situations. The system is capable of braking individual wheels to the limits of their grip, whilst simultaneously adjusting the engine management settings, to ensure safe braking - whatever the conditions.
High strength body shell
The Audi Q7 V12 is underpinned by a high strength body shell constructed from incredibly strong steel. The rigid safety zones of the high-strength body shell ensure that, in the event of a collision, energy is absorbed in a controlled manner away from the occupants' protective zone.
SIDEGUARD®
In the event of a side impact, side airbags will activate, preventing occupant injury. The head-level airbag covers the entire front and rear side-window including the A-post area.
Anti Slip Regulation (ASR)
ASR cuts the power to any wheel that has lost traction, so the Q7 V12 continues to accelerate safely while keeping you on the road.
Intelligent airbag system
In the event of an accident, intelligent impact sensors - including an innovative 'up-front' sensor - will detect the severity and nature of the impact and trigger the appropriate occupant protection systems.
Safe and sure with quattro®
Audi's quattro technology isn't all about high-performance handling. For every-day driving, especially with non-ideal road conditions, quattro will help you reach your destination quickly and safely.
It works by varying the amount of drive that is sent to each of the four wheels, reacting in milliseconds, constantly feeling for any loss of grip. So, on slippery surfaces, if one or more wheels are at risk of spinning, more drive is directed to wheels that have better road-surface contact. You don't notice this happening: all you feel is more assured cornering, whatever the weather.
ESP keeps you pointing in the right direction
Audi's electronic stability program (ESP) is a combination of advanced technologies that helps keep the car under control in more extreme situations such as when you need to avoid an unexpected obstacle in the road. ESP is especially helpful in adverse weather conditions.
When you need to turn quickly and sharply, ESP identifies your intended direction and responds by applying the brakes to individual wheels
Brake disc wiping - keeping your brakes dry
In the wet, ESP also dries the brake discs by intermittently applying the brake pads lightly. You and your passengers won't notice but, compared with conventional braking systems, your stopping distances on wet roads will be considerably shortened.

Child safety as standard
With ISOFIX, compatible child safety seats can be fitted swiftly and securely. On each outer rear seat and the front passenger seat, ISOFIX mounting points are provided. The front passenger airbag can be deactivated for when a child seat is present. ISOFIX mountings are standard across the Q7 model range.
Incredible braking performance
Compared with conventional steel discs, ceramic brakes not only last four times longer, but also offer high braking performance, even when driving at the limit, as well as high resistance to fading. Braking performance is not diminished even after repeated braking, when driving down a mountain pass, for example. The unsprung rotating masses at the wheels are reduced by a total of around 20 kilograms or 50 percent compared with conventional brake discs, resulting in noticeably improved handling and agility.
Compared with an identical brake disc made of steel, this material lasts four times longer: the high abrasion resistance of ceramic discs means that they will last for up to 300,000 kilometres. The extreme surface hardness of the composite ceramic also means that the brake discs are unsusceptible to solid and liquid road salts as well as to corrosion and rust. There's virtually no brake dust either - so alloy wheels don't get blackened and dirty.
Ceramic brakes are standard on the Q7 V12.
