Audi Q5 Off Road Features
Latest generation electronic stability program
As well as allowing sportier driving on the road, the new generation of the ESP (version 8.1) in the Audi Q5 features off road detection. This reprograms the ESP system, the traction control and anti-lock braking system so they adapt to the specific driving conditions encountered in off-road terrain, such as snow, gravel or mud. You'll get good traction in all manner of conditions, the pleasure of a sporty driving style and assured handling - even on difficult surfaces.
Roof rack detection
In addition, the ESP system is fitted with a sensor system that detects whether you have fastened the roof bars and adapts the system to react to a higher centre of gravity.
The standard, hill descent control system automatically maintains the speed set by the driver on steep descents and on any surface (up to 19mph). This makes it easier to negotiate off-road descents and increases stability.
The Q5 is ready for anything. Its climbing capability is an incredible 31 degrees incline, with an approach and departure angle of 25 degrees, and ramp breakover angle of 17.6 degrees ensures no obstacles stand in its way. Ground clearance is a substantial 200 mm with a wading depth of 500 mm that is more than enough to drive through shallow streams.
