Integrated Safety

Audi pre sense is a comprehensive technical package for identifying dangers well in advance and intervening appropriately. It categorises driving situations as critical or as an impending collision, with the aim of preparing the vehicle and its occupants as thoroughly as possible. Pre sense does this by networking the various active and passive safety systems into a single, integrated safety system.

Xenon headlights produce light that is much closer to daylight and about twice as much light as comparable halogen headlights, making night driving, particularly in poor weather, safer and less tiring for your eyes.

The adaptive lights swivel in the headlamp cluster. When turning, they follow the steering wheel and cast a wider angle of illumination so you can see round the bend more clearly at night.

At the rear, the A7 Sportback's lightweight LED tail lights offer greater visibility, penetration and an overall safer driving experience, as well as lasting longer than conventional halogen bulbs.

Unique to this class of car, the A7 Sportback is available with full-LED headlights.

These optional headlights give the car an unmistakeable appearance during the day, but especially in the dark. With a colour temperature of 5,500 Kelvin's the light produced closely resembles daylight, vastly reducing strain on the eyes when driving at night.

The dipped beam is made up of ten single modules, forming an arc beneath the chrome contours of the 'wing'. Directly beneath it, in a secondary arc are 22 white and 22 yellow LEDs create the daytime running lights and indicators. Above the 'wing' is the full beam, generated by two powerful, four-chip LEDs and a free-form reflection system. An assistance function switches between the dipped and full beam whilst further high-performance LEDs produce the motorway and cornering lights. A dedicated fan and heat sink keep each headlight at exactly the right temperature.

All of this whilst being vastly more efficient than traditional headlights.

The optional Audi side assist offers safe lane-changing even if there's another vehicle in your blind spot. At speeds over 40mph, it monitors the area to the rear and sides of the car and detects whether the lane is occupied by another vehicle. If it is, LEDs on the corresponding door mirror warn you before you begin to pull out.

Specifying Audi side assist upgrades the standard Audi pre sense system to pre sense rear.
