A7 Sportback Handling and control
quattro
Safe and sure with quattro®
Audi's optional quattro technology isn't all about high-performance handling. For every-day driving, especially with non-ideal road conditions, quattro will help you reach your destination quickly and safely.
It works by varying the amount of drive that is sent to each of the four wheels, reacting in milliseconds, constantly feeling for any loss of grip. So, on slippery surfaces, if one or more wheels are at risk of spinning, more drive is directed to wheels that have better road-surface contact. You don't notice this happening: all you feel is more assured cornering, whatever the weather.
New generation quattro
The Audi A7 Sportback benefits from the latest-generation quattro which made its first appearance in the new Audi RS 5.
The new generation quattro has a new self-locking crown-gear centre differential with plate packages that achieve higher locking factors. The basic configuration of power is 40:60, or if required; 70:30 or 15:85.
There is also a new slot-in propeller shaft which is approximately 2.5 kg lighter than the previous version of the quattro, and has the additional function of torque vectoring.
But what does all this mean to the driver? Well, the Audi A7 Sportback will have greater agility, outstanding traction, precision-control, and extremely sporty road behaviour.
