Audi A1 Infotainment Features
Big Car performance in the compact class:
5.1 Surround Sound from Bose in the new Audi A1
The new Audi A1 is expected to set a new standard in quality, design and driving enjoyment - and that goes not only for the car but also its innovative new audio system. For the A1, Bose has developed a full 5.1 surround sound system that creates a realistic 360° sound panorama wherever passengers are sitting - something never before heard in such a compact car.

Usually found in cinemas and premium home entertainment systems, 5.1 surround sound offers the ultimate listening experience: Something new in the small car segment in which stereo is general standard. This gives a big-cinema feel to journeys in the A1.
Introducing Bose 5.1 Surround in the Audi A1:
In 1982, Bose was the first audio company to supply branded sound systems to be offered directly by a car manufacturer. Nearly 30 years later, Bose brings unique technologies into the compact car class with Audi, the company which offered the first Bose Sound System in a European car in 1989.
The first BOSE® 5.1 Surround Sound System in a compact car with 14 high-performance speakers including a custom-engineered bass enclosure sets the standard in small cars.
A Centre-fill mid-range speaker in the instrument panel stabilises the reproduction and sets the virtual sound stage.
Exceptional performance is achieved by an advanced 3-way-system for the front seats and extraordinarily natural sound even at high volumes.
The full, dry bass is created by a 10.5-litre bass module which has been optimally integrated below the cargo area and so does not reduce the cargo space.
LED highlighting accents the woofer speaker grilles in the front doors and the speaker grilles themselves are colour-matched to the trendy interior colors.
The digital 10-channel high-performance amplifier with BOSE® Digital Signal Processing delivers a 360° listening experience from DVDs with 5.1 multi-channel recordings and even from conventional stereo CDs or radio.

AudioPilot® 2 Noise Compensation Technology monitors and adjusts the music to compensate for the effects of unwanted outside sound and vehicle speed. Enhanced DSP algorithms allow faster and more effective compensation for unusual situations, such as driving on a very rough road or at high speeds. It all happens automatically, so there is much less need to adjust the audio controls

From the centre-fill speaker, located in the middle of the instrument panel, to the 10.5-litre bass enclosure optimally integrated below the cargo area (thereby ensuring there's no loss in storage capacity) a total of 14 loudspeakers combine to provide a natural sounding mid-high-frequency range and a powerful, deep and highly-contoured bass.
Through Bose-exclusive Centerpoint® technology, the A1's BOSE® system can generate surround-sound from stereo radio signals and even compressed MP3 files. And with SurroundStage® processing, the acoustics can seem to transcend the dimensions of the car itself: the audio is presented with such detail, precision and clarity it's possible even to place the contribution of individual artists within the performance. Add AudioPilot® Noise Compensation Technology - that measures cabin and external noise and compensates for its effects - and the result is extreme listening pleasure, never before available in the small compact class.

Audi Music Interface: your music goes with you
A very wide range of portable music devices can integrate with your car via the optional Audi Music Interface. Once installed, they can be controlled with the Multi Media Interface (MMI) or multifunction steering wheel. Supported devices include USB memory sticks, portable hard discs, mobile phones, and Apple iPods - even portable cassette players.
Your own personal jukebox If you have chosen the HDD-based Satellite Navigation system, the good news is you don't actually have to take any of these things with you. Simply download, via CDs, USB sticks or SD memory cards up to 4,000 music tracks on to its hard drive and create your own personal jukebox.
Flexibility and convenience in the concert radio system
Standard across the Audi A1 range, the Concert radio system is easy to operate. Thanks to a dynamically changing radio station list, only receivable stations are displayed. There are two FM tuners - one for receiving the currently selected station and one to hunt for new stations in the background.
The Concert radio is equipped with an MP3 and WMA-compatible CD drive and, with MP3s, all the song file data (title, artist, length, etc) can be displayed. There's also an aux-in socket so you can connect audio devices such as MP3 players and deliver sound through the car's fantastic speakers.
This fantastic system also features an SD card reader and voice control.
The latest Multimedia Interface - MMI 3G +
MMI 3G+, satellite navigation and entertainment system, is just one example of the innovative technology which is available on the Audi A1. The MMI 3G+ system includes:
. A completely new user interface featuring icons which are easier to operate and more intuitive
. Voice control which allows whole-word inputs
. 2D and 3D map display for navigation
. Complete navigation address input in one single command
. Wireless music streaming from compatible mobile phone to the car's audio system
. 20GB hard drive jukebox
. Playback of compatible video files
. SD card reader
Keeping your hands on the wheel
A built in Bluetooth hands-free phone system is standard on SE models and above.
The options
Mobile phone preparation
This feature provides a Bluetooth connection for your mobile phone. This means that your phone can be operated using the multifunction steering wheel in conjunction with the Driver's Information System.
In addition to standard hands-free functionality such as accepting/rejecting calls and hands-free communication, mobile phone preparation provides direct access to entries and phone numbers stored in the address book of compatible phones.
Mobile phone preparation high
This innovative phone solution offers an unprecedented level of convenience, as it becomes possible to literally leave your phone 'in your jacket pocket' and still operate it using the car controls as outlined above. In effect, the mobile phone in your jacket pocket serves merely as a mobile SIM card reader. The phone calls are made using the car so mobile phone battery life is greatly increased and reception is improved as you are using the car's antenna.
Mobile phone preparation low
Mobile phone preparation low, standard on SE models and above, comprises a user-friendly hands-free unit, a high-performance external aerial and a charger. Your mobile phone is paired with the system by way of Bluetooth or a cradle adapter which can be obtained from your Audi Centre. The big advantage of this system is that the cradle adaptor uses the cars external antenna and power supply to make and receive calls which improves call quality and reduces handset battery consumption. The phone can also be operated from the multi-media interface as well as via the multifunction steering wheel in conjunction with the Driver's Information System.
