A3 Engine

Audi TT

Audi TT

The new Audi A3 is more contemporary and more distinctive than ever. Sharper contours catch the eye and enhance road presence. Inside, the Audi A3 breaks the rule that says only large cars can be luxury cars. Improved fuel consumption, next-generation quattro and 7-speed S tronic transmission ensure the way it drives matches the way it looks. And Co2 emissions have been reduced by up to 15% across the whole range. The new Audi A3 exceeds the benchmark set by its only true rival: its predecessor.

All the practical benefits of a sports hatchback, together with immaculate build quality and classic Audi refinement, can now be found in one compact car. And with a contemporary design, more efficient range of engines and class-leading technology, the Audi A3 offers an unprecedented combination of luxury and value.

True to its iconic design, the Audi TT Roadster brings into perfect balance the athleticism of a thoroughbred sports car with the pure design principles of a modern classic. The Audi TT Roadster - a genuine sports car.

Rear spoiler
The rear spoiler extends automatically at 75 mph and retracts automatically again at 50 mph, it can also be controlled by the driver via a switch located on the centre console.

Roll-over bars
The roll-over bars, angled forwards and with aluminium trim on the back add even more dynamism to the design of the Audi TT Roadster.

Cloth hood
The hood takes a mere 12 seconds to open automatically, and can also be operated manually with ease.

Sports seats
The ergonomically shaped Sports seats provide effective lateral support and can be adjusted to suit individual needs and tastes.

Rear lights
The clear-glass design of the rear lights make a striking feature on the TT Roadster, providing greater visual depth, underscoring the car's unique styling.

Load-through hatch
The load-through hatch in the centre of the rear panel is perfect for transporting skis or other long objects up to 1.9 m in length. Skis up to 1.9 m will also fit snugly into the removable ski bag.

Audi TT TDI quattro Design
Lightweight Audi Space Frame® (ASF)
The lightweight ASF aluminium and steel hybrid body shell is a major contributor to the impressive all-round performance of the new TT 2.0 TDI Quattro. It has impressively low kerb weights of 1,370 kg for the TT 2.0 TDI quattro Coupé, and 1,415 kg for the TT 2.0 TDI quattro Roadster.

The weight saving also proves its worth by providing for comfortable and agile handling of the TT. In the typical best traditions of all higher torque Audis, this handling is maintained by Audi quattro permanent four-wheel drive technology.

For driving enthusiasts who want the very best from the aluminium-rich suspension, the special magnetic ride adaptive damping system, futuristically using magnetic fluid that reacts to an electrical charge, will be available as an option.

For the Audi purist, the standard UK specification for the new TT 2.0 TDI quattro mirrors the now familiar 2.0T FSI petrol version. It offers features such as 17-inch Trapez alloy wheels, leather and Alcantara-upholstered sports seats, electronic climate control and an mp3-compatible 140 watt Audi Concert audio system with single CD drive. The Roadster adds a fully automatic electrically operated soft top with- integrated wind deflector.

Audi TT TDI quattro - Power
The latest 2.0 litre, four-cylinder TDI engine, originally launched to critical acclaim in the new A4 Saloon in 143PS form, has been upgraded to 170PS with an impressive 350 Nm maximum torque output – more than even the 3.2 litre V6 petrol model.

The space-efficient shape of the engine complements the acclaimed personality of the TT, and fits transversely into its compact engine bay. It includes a sophisticated performance and refinement-boosting common rail fuel injection system and turbocharger with adjustable, rapid torque-building vanes and advanced piezo injection technology – so there’s no doubt about its sports car compatibility.

The high-tech injection technology and to refinement-boosting balancer shafts enable the TT 2.0 TDI quattro Coupé to easily reach its 5,000 rpm limit. It features a 6-speed manual transmission, a top speed of 140mph (where conditions allow) and a 0-62mph of just 7.5 seconds. And to top it all, the car has a combined consumption figure of 53.3 mpg.

The Audi TT TDI engine complies with proposed Euro 5 emission limits, with a drastic reduction in untreated emissions of nitrogen oxides and a CO2 figure of only 140g/km for the Coupé, some 20 per cent less than the 2.0T FSI petrol model. Improvements in combustion chamber thermodynamics provides for the new engine to run on up to 60 percent recycled exhaust cooled by the radiator, even more efficient than the outgoing 2.0 litre TDI engine.
