D-post.
The flowing D-post emphasises the coupé-like styling and serves as a link between the greenhouse and body.
V shape.
The characteristic V shape of the front lid continues along the outside edges of the single-frame grille, accentuating the dynamism of the Audi A8.
Headlight design.
The new headlight design shifts the centre of gravity further outwards, accentuating the vehicle’s width.
LED design line.
The design line of the strip of LED daytime running lights and the dipped beam headlights of the optional LED headlights continues in the front-lid join. |

Technology
The all new Audi A8 is also bristling with the latest technological systems from Audi Pre-Sense to Night Vision Assistant. Some of the technology systems are highlight below.
Detection range for persons between 15 m and approx. 90 m Range of high beams up to 200 m Range of night vision assistant up to 300 m. With an integral thermal imaging camera, the Audi A8 boosts safety and comfort when driving at night. The night vision assistant not only helps to spot hazards and obstructions in good time; it also reduces the driver’s workload.
• Extends the field of view beyond the high beams’ light cone
• The thermal imaging camera registers heat sources that are located in or are approaching the driving corridor
• People and animals are visible in the thermal image even in very dark conditions
• People are visible even when wearing dark clothes
• Line of the road also identifiable away from the zone lit by the headlights
• An image processing algorithm evaluates the camera data:
• Objects that are identified by their outline as people are highlighted yellow by the system
• Highlighting changes to red if the system identifies a hazard by analysing the movements and position of the person identified
• A warning signal sounds if a hazard exists
• System easy to adjust via MMI car menu (highlighting of people and warning signal can be switched on and off ; contrast adjustable in multiple stages) Night vision assistant with
highlighting of detected pedestrians (option). |

Intelligent Satellite Navigation
This system, which taps into the navigation system, uses information from the MMI navigation plus to identify features along the chosen route such as bends, junctions and motorway stretches. For greater safety and comfort, the system automatically adjusts the operating principles of the transmission, lights and Audi adaptive cruise control with stop & go function in advance:
• Adjusts transmission: avoids unnecessary gear changes when entering and coming out of bends
• Adjusts lights: anticipates level of lighting required for the surroundings (bends, junctions, motorway etc.)
• Adjusts Audi adaptive cruise control with stop & go function to suit the route ahead |
