Time fly's when you're having fun! And that's certainly the case for the folks at East Kent Audi who are celebrating their 11th year at their Canterbury base. The East Kent Audi dealership opened in February 2000. The purpose built site was the second Audi dealership designed in the context of a state-of-the-art hanger. Since opening in 2000 East Kent Audi have established a fine reputation for high standards of customer care and their employees have won many awards for their outstanding contributions.
Being the sole Audi retailer for the area, the East Kent dealership spans the entire south east corner of the UK, from the coastal town of Whitstable round to Ramsgate, Deal, Folkestone, Dover and then inland to Ashford and up to Faversham. Serving such a large area, the East Kent Audi team have all the necessary facilities to meet their customer needs, they include MOT servicing, a full workshop, parts department and also the added extras which boast free loan cars, collection and delivery and a large customer car park.
The franchise opened in 2000 with just 24 staff members, 11 years on and this has more than doubled with 51 employees now working at the branch. There is a loyal staff base with 5 of the original team still working at the dealership. With big demand for the Audi products, this rapid expansion has also had a big impact on the sales team. The team has grown in the past 11 years, from 3 in 2000 to 8 Sales Executives in 2011.
As with all the Inchcape Audi dealerships, front of house staff at East Kent Audi plays a vital role in providing exceptional customer service. With their winning formula of long staff service, experience and customer rapport, front of house staff are responsible for maintaining customers and gaining their friendship and loyalty to Audi and its products and services. This is reflected in their impressive customer retention statistics. East Kent Audi pride themselves on retaining vehicles for service and repair well over 5 years old, compared to other dealerships that only see cars up to 3.5 years old. For MOT services they still see vehicles up to 8 years old.
East Kent Audi, After Sales Manager, George Beck, said:
"These impressive statistics are a direct result of the dedication and hard work from the whole East Kent Audi team. Not only that but the East Kent Audi technicians are qualified to the highest Audi standards and their aim, as with the rest of the team, is to provide the ultimate customer experience. They are constantly developing their skills and learning the new Audi technology as it is developed".
There has been a dramatic increase in the number of Audi vehicles available to the customer. In 2000 Audi had a new car contract of 300 cars; which has greatly increased to a new car contract of 702 vehicles for 2011. The same can be said for the Audi used car contract, which were 150 vehicles in 2000. The contract for 2011 is 480.
Along with celebrating their 11 year anniversary, East Kent Audi has just celebrated another milestone. March 2011 was the most successful month ever, with the team delivering 189 new and used vehicles. Again, this success is attributed to their hard work and dedication.
So it seems that the team has a lot of celebrating to do this year. The annual Kent Show this summer will give the team the opportunity to do this. Each year East Kent Audi presents at the local annual agricultural show. The team has an exhibition stand displaying the latest Audi models. East Kent Audi, Dealership Co-ordinator, Janet Crawford, said:
"We exhibit at the Kent Show every year and this not only gives us the chance to see our customers but it also is a great team activity as the whole dealership takes part. It is the highlight of the year and a real chance to get together".
With the success of the past 11 years, its now time to look to the future. With over a decade at their Canterbury base, East Kent Audi are now taking steps to expand their facilities and plans are in place in order to provide an even better customer experience for the future.

Subtly restyled and extensively re-engineered, new A5 and S5 Sportback, A5 and S5 Coupé, and A5 and S5 Cabriolet models have just been unveiled by Audi. The three ranges are also characterised by CO2 emission reductions of up to 22% thanks to new and heavily revised A5 engines and additional efficiency measures. All three cut more of a dash visually too, thanks to gentle re-shaping of the bumpers, grilles, bonnets and front and rear light clusters. The changes are particularly apparent in new Audi A5 S line models, which now feature LED strip daytime running lights that virtually surround the headlight unit at the front, and newly designed LED strip lights at the rear. This striking light set-up can also be specified for all other versions at extra cost as part of a package that also includes adaptive swiveling headlights for improved corner illumination. Equipped with its new and 20% more efficient engine, and with standard A5 S tronic twin clutch transmission in common with its Sportback and Cabriolet counterparts, the S5 Coupe can power to 62mph from rest in 4.9 seconds - a 0.2-second improvement over its V8-powered predecessor - on the way to a governed 155mph top speed. Combined fuel economy stands at 34.9mpg, a significant improvement over the tiptronic V8 Coupe's 26.4mpg.
Audi has won this year's Silvretta Electric Car Rally in the Montafon region of Austria, on highly taxing mountain roads with inclines up to 15%. After three days in the Alps, 307km and a total altitude difference of 11,541 metres, the A1 e-tron bearing number 206 was named the winner. It was driven by Franciscus van Meel, Audi's Head of Electromobility Strategy, with long-time Audi employee Gerhard Gruber taking on the important role of co-driver. "Sending an electric car into the Alps is one of the toughest challenges you can present it with," van Meel said after crossing the finishing line. "The fact that the e-tron proved so impressive here is especially gratifying to me, and it proves we're on the right track with our approach of combining an electric motor with a combustion engine." Describing the rally itself, he said: "On the first day we drove cautiously and despite a distance of just over 100km we finished with a lot of electricity left in the battery. On the second day we were better prepared and were able to win; on day three we came second, and in the end that was enough for overall victory. The car ran flawlessly. We're now looking forward to the 2012 rally. We already have a few ideas about the kind of concepts we'll enter with." The A1 e-tron contains technology that Audi's development engineers are using to study the mobility requirements for such a future-oriented concept. The technological basis of the A1 e-tron includes an electric motor with a maximum output of 75 kW that is powered by a lithium-ion battery. The battery features a 12 kWh capacity and can be completely charged in 30 minutes (quick charge), or in less than three hours (standard).
It offers a range of 50km. To prevent drivers from being stranded by an empty battery, the A1 e-tron also comes equipped with a combustion engine, which can charge the battery as needed. The one-disc rotary engine (254 cc) is located under the trunk floor; it provides 15 kW of output intended solely to charge the battery, rather than to directly power the wheels. The 2011 victory followed the R8 e-tron's win last year. The other Audi in the rally this year, a Q5 HFC with a fuel cell finished in sixth out of 32 vehicles - the best result of any car with a fuel cell.
Contrast Edition will soon be added to the A1 Editions range. It's a subtle way to add style and individuality to our A1. The sporty exterior body styling package is enhanced with a contrasting coloured roof line, front spoiler lip, side skirts and double-blade roof spoiler.
This sophisticated design is an understated way to set your A1 apart.
The Audi A7 is now available with 5 seats as standard. The 4 seat option is available at the time of ordering.

A line of limited edition Audi A1s is set to be introduced. Named A1 Editions, the series will allow customers to customise their A1s with distinctive designs that will help set their cars apart. This new range will help maintain the momentum from the successful launch in November last year, which was followed by strong month-on-month performance and a number of prestigious awards.
A1 Editions is the umbrella term under which we will introduce different design-led limited editions. Based on Sport trim these are aimed at customers who wish to personalise their cars to different levels. The A1 Editions will split into one of two design concepts, one focusing on sporty designs, the other on sophisticated styling. Together these will ensure that the A1 Edition will appeal to customers interested in individualising their cars.

This fantastic addition to our range is a combination of unique exterior styling, advanced technology and excellent efficiency. The UK launch on the new Audi A8 will take place in April. Initially, only the 4.2 FSI and the 4.2 TDI will be available, but they will be joined by the 3.0 TDI in September. Only two trim levels will be available in the UK SE and SE Executive, with the long wheel base beng available later in the year. Like the A8's predecessors the new models is constructed almost entirely of light alloy and tempered aluminium body panels supported on a space frame. The styling of the new A8 is not a radical departure of what has gone before and the design heritage is clearly identifiable. The big grille remains the central feature from the front but is now flanked by headlamp housing which contains innovative new technology. There is a big change at the back, where the styling comes into line more with the A4's and A5's, elegant tail light assemblies which emphasise the width of the rear panels and the boot lid has a distinctive lip. Inside, there is much which will be familiar to previous A8 drivers, but the quality of teh furnishing is even higher than before. The instrument panel is wonderfully clear and easy to read. The way in which the textures, materials and colours have been used in the interior is quite outstanding. For more information or to arrange a test drive in the new A8, please call the centre and we will be happy to arrange.
