Cheshire Oaks Audi Win the Audi Service Cup

Cheshire Oaks Audi won the Service Cup at the Audi Twin Cup International Final in Neckarsulm, Germany, on 18 to 20 September. Denmark won the Technical Cup and Audi of America won the overall Twin Cup.

Cheshire Oaks, winners of the UK round of the Twin Cup, fielded a six-strong team – Warranty Controller Mark Booth, Master Technician Neil Willoughby, Master Technician Mark Weaver, Parts Advisor Peter Clarke, Technician Andrew Barlow and Senior Service Advisor Holly Mulcahy.

The team took Aftersales Manager Glyn Owens and Head of Business Jon Sutcliffe along for support. Audi UK National Aftersales Manager Paul Woodhead, and Malcolm Hetherington, area seven Aftersales Manager, were also there to back the team.

Woodhead commented: “The Twin Cup is a brilliant event, testing product knowledge, brand knowledge, customer service and technical ability through tests that ranged from quizzes to role-play to fault diagnosis.“I was really proud of the way the Cheshire Oaks team represented us both on and off the pitch. They were truly impressive in the competition – to win the Service Cup with opposition from 35 countries was superb. And outside the competitive sessions they were great ambassadors for the Audi UK Network.

”The Twin Cup competition took place on the Saturday, with a gala ginner and prize giving that evening at which the team picked up their rewards – a trophy, a framed certificate and individual medals.The team at Neckarsulm Forum. Team member Holly Mulcahy added: "We had a brilliant time, we knew that the UK has a good record in the Finals, so the pressure was on and we did not want to disappoint, it was hard work but a really great experience. When they announced we had won the Service Cup I was so pleased, we'll have to try for the Twin Cups next year!"

The first part of the competition was a series of driving events, including a skid pan test in an Audi Q7, a regularity test over three laps in an Audi Q5, and an ABS braking test in an A8. We had a break for some karting before separating into mini teams. I went to the forum to answer some questions on the history of Audi, while Holly and Mark tackled a test on customer service. The practical testing was next. We split into mini teams again so I did some fault-finding on an A6 while the others worked on a CEI results test.We were told that there would be questions on A6, so we all read through the price and spec guide and the owner’s manual to make sure we were prepared. The UK finals were based on the format of the World Final, so we had a pretty good idea of what to expect.There were no score updates all day, so we had no idea how well we were doing. We obviously went there to win something, but when they read out Austria and Russia as second and third place, we started to worry!The team under starter's orders.

Audi of America won the overall Twin Cup trophy, but their selection process is totally different to the UK’s. Audi Centre staff from all over the country enter by completing online tests; the final team is selected from the highest scorers. The World Final is the first time they actually meet each other. We’ll definitely beat them next year. We all had an awesome weekend – we knew it was going to be good, but it exceeded even our high expectations. Everything was done to such a high standard and we were made to feel really welcome.The whole experience has been great for morale at Cheshire Oaks, particularly for members of the team. We got to spend time working together on something outside normal work and did really well.
